The group of internees leaving Stanley Camp for Shanghai are mentioned in diary entries for 26 July 1942.
Mr Evans studied at the University of Hong Kong. In 1925 he joined Lowe, Bingham and Matthews, working as a senior audit clerk under John Fleming. In 1928 he moved to Boyd & Co., Ltd in Amoy to work as an accountant. He was in Hong Kong in December 1941, where he worked as Assistant Transport Officer until the surrender.
