Joe's bar
Run by ex Royal Marine Joe Redmond. Usually had a "crippled" beggar outside who could sometimes be seen running for the bus after his stint.

Joe's Bar
Joseph Redlmond (Redlund?) was a great character; "All I have are my friends!" And one did not want to be anything but a friend to Joe.
His wife was from Shanghai and ran a bar down the street. Different milieu, however.
Joe's was strictly an expatriot trade, whereas his wife kept a beavy of bar girls on the premises to chat with the sailors who wandered through the doors.
When the Chunnel was being constructed, there were quite a few Scots about, mostly engineers. And the 42nd Royal Highland Regiment had rotated through Northern Ireland.
