Happy Valley Cemetery

Hi,

As a new poster I just wish to say thank you to your site for the invaluable information  I found when searching for the grave of my aunt. Your reference number lead me straight to the grave when I visited Hong Kong in March 2014.

My aunt Jeannie Chapple was killed in a car accldent in Hong Kong on 27/12/56 at the age of 25. She was the oldest child in a family of eight and helped to bring up her younger siblings when her mother died in 1946. She married an army man and he was posted to Hong Kong when the accident happened.

When we arrived at the cemetary only her name was legible but with some hot soapy water and a scrubbing brush the grave stone came up like new.

My mother (jeannies only remaining sibling) had long wanted to visit the grave and pay her respects and it was only with the help of your site that this was possible. The British Army and the consulate were unable to help and we can never thank you enough for enabling our family to finally visit Jeannie's final resting place

Her grave reference is  2050  09/20/10 and I have enclosed a photograph.

Once again many thanks for the work you have done on thia topic. My mother can now go to her grave in peace,,

Kind regards,

  Jacqueline Wallace

Hi Jacqueline,

Thank you for letting us know your family's story. The credit for the invaluable information should go to Patricia Lim, who did all the hard work of compiling the gravestone inscriptions. I'll forward your message to her.

Regards, David

PS If you can upload a copy of the photograph here, I'd like to see it. Here's how to upload: http://gwulo.com/node/2076
