I was interested to read about Flt.Lt. Oswald Chan in “Hong Kong-Chinese RAF pilot in WW2” posted by IDJ on 2014-08-02.

Oswald Chan was actually in the RAFVR. He was Eurasian. His father, CHAN Kai-ming, was the son of an American named Tyson  and a Spanish/Chinese lady. How the family got the surname “Chan” is explained in an interview given by the Rev.Guy Shea – see “Eurasian Surnames and more” posted by Annelisec on 2011-04-20 (the Rev.Guy Shea was Oswald’s nephew).  Oswald’s widow, Doris Frith, was also Eurasian and later married yet another Eurasian named Edwin Macomber Churn.
