My Great Uncle, Richard Unsworth, retired from the sea in about 1907, possibly a little earlier and took a senior position in the Kowloon/Victoria Harbourmaster's office. He was there until 1913 when he retired to England. Family legend has it that he was Harbour Master at Kowloon at some time in this period. How can I check his employment details in the Harbour Authority?

A quick search turns up some clues:

He's mentioned in the Jurors List's from 1903-1914 as working for HK & Kowloon Wharf & Godown Co., Ld. So he was working for a commercial company, not the government's Harbour Office.

From 1903-06 his occupation is given as Wharfinger, then from 1907-14 as Berthing Master.

If you have any photos from his time in Hong Kong, we'd enjoy seeing them.

You can see some photos of the wharves where he worked at:

From page 4 of the The Hong Kong Telegraph, 1918-08-19:

Death of Capt. Unsworth.

We regret to hear that news has been received in the Colony of the death at Home of Captain Unsworth, who was for many years in the service of the Wharf and Godown Company and who resigned some six years ago. He was extremely well-known locally and prior to joining, the Godown Company was in command of one of the old Scottish Oriental Company's vessels plying between Hongkong and Bangkok. Deep sympathy will be felt for Mrs. Unsworth in her bereavement.
