Looking for help to type these Chinese names

The names below are members of the BAAG that Elizabeth Ride has provided information on. One of the difficulties in tracking mentions of these individuals is that their names aren't always spelled the same way in English.

The Chinese characters stay the same though, so if you can type Chinese, please could you help type a few of the names below that Elizabeth has sent? Then I'll cut and paste the characters onto their page on Gwulo.

Thanks & regards, David

Romanised name & notes from Elizabeth Chinese characters
1. Percy Cheng
2. William Cheng.  When anglicised, I have seen his characters read as "Cheng Wai Lim".
3. Bill Chong.  His anglicised characters were said to read "Kong Chun Hong" [?]. I have also seen "Chong Gun".

Hi tngan and David, 1. Percy Cheng: I think the second character is a combination of the left side of 顯 and right side of 維. Is there such a Chinese character? 2. William Cheng: second character looks like 淮 to me. 3. The image does not load. 12. Tse Dickuan: second character is 滌.

Hi T & C,

That's just what I was looking for, thank you!

I've left 1, 2, and 12 to wait for your decisions on them.

I'll add in the characters for 3 if they become available.

I've copied the other names to the relevant person's page (see http://gwulo.com/list-of-person?tid=BAAG&title_1=), except for 13 - 16 which I've inserted into the two statements at http://gwulo.com/comment/30861#comment-30861 and http://gwulo.com/node/23805

Hi there, Yes, I was meant to type Tse Dickuan 謝滌君 but it would seem made a typo trying and didn't realize it. For William Cheng, yes, it looks like a 淮 there. I am uncertain about Percy Cheng now. Thanks & Best Regards, T

Hi tngan and David,

Thank you, tngan!  For (1) Percy Cheng, I am not even sure if what was written is a proper character.  Would Ms. Ride have another document with his name in Chinese?

David, I still cannot see the image for (3) Bill Chong.

Thanks again for your help. I'll add in the names for 2 & 12. I received the following from Elizabeth:

I found the attached rather indistinct copy of a testimonial to Bill Chong which includes his name in Chinese characters.  (The original apparently hangs in the Canadian Veterans Association).  I hope it is distinct enough for someone to decipher.  I see that both C and TNgan have been very helpful.  I will try to find more about Percy Cheng.

Bill Chong Testimonial

Regards, David

You are welcome!  Bill Chong = 鄭根

There is a Chinese Canadian Military Museum in Vancouver, Canada.  Would the testimonial be there?

Good monrning, C.  I will keep looking for another example of Percy Cheng's Chinese name.  In the meantime I have posted his statement about his rescue of  Dr Scriven's escaping party after their attack by bandits.  This is under Percy Cheng's name (http://gwulo.com/node/18677).  The Canadian Veteran's Association (for Bill Chong's testimonial) you mention is the most lileky, as Bill lived in Vancouver.  EMR.

Here is the character for another name from the Court Martial - Chan Ping Fan:

Hi Elizabeth, Chan Ping Fan in Chinese is 陳炳勳 . Thank you for posting Percy Cheng's statement. Have a good day!
