The University's recreation ground was opened soon after the University opened to students. We can follow its development through the annual reports of the Public Works Department:

1913: "The formation of a recreation ground on I.L. 1949, adjoining Pokfulam Road, for the University Union was undertaken."
1914: "Work in connection with the formation of a Recreation Ground on Inland Lot 1949 for the University Union was proceeded with."
1915: "The University Recreation Ground (Inland Lot 1949), Pokfulam Road, was turfed and fenced in and the construction of a pavilion was commenced."
1916: "The pavilion on the University Recreation Ground (Inland Lot 1949) was completed."

I've set the completion date to 1916. I'll adjust it if we find the ground was already in use for sports matches in earlier years.
