The long building at the eastern end of Southorn Playground was the War Memorial Recreational and Welfare Centre completed in 1950. Behind it was a basketball court with roof erected around 1952/53. (copied from moddsey's comment).

Think this photo was taken from Bowen Road. The building with the cupola in the foreground should be No. 64 Kennedy Road.

Roof erected before june 2 1953, the date when there was a children party at the stadium to celebrate the queen's coronation.

Kellett Island is still an island in this photo which means the photo was taken before September 1952 when the causeway between Kellett island and Gloucester Road was constructed.
