Pillbox Indication Stone in Tseung Kwan O Trail

I found three Pillbox indication stone in Tseung Kwan O trail, there are two arrow on the stone, I think one is for PB100 and another is for PB103, but still couldn't found those Pillbox yet

Forum:

To save you searching, PB 100 disappeared many years ago, probably in the 1970's. PB 103 ruins are still there, but when last visited about four years ago, were heavily overgrown.

Thank you very much Rob, I'll go searching for others Pillbox

A good resource is Rob's map of pillboxes on the mainland: http://gwulo.com/node/15792

Hi There,

Subject to confirmation I believe we should be able to find out the approximate time of the demolishment of this pillbox.  It is likely having something to do with the development of the Hang Hau district.

Pillbox 100 sat on a ridge which locals call 'Ap Tsai Shan' (which could literally be translated to Duckling's ridge)  Before the development of the housing estates and the moden day roads\roundabouts, the ridge gradually extended to the present Hau Tak Estates and Fu Ning Gardens (just next to Hang Hau Village).  If you consult the Government GeoInfo Map online and zoom into Ap Tsai Shan, you would see the graphical representation of man made steep slopes

Likely the location of the pillbox was grazed down when the slopes was constructed when the make space for the estates and the big roundabout.

The demolished remains of PB 100 and its Lyon Light Shelter are clearly visible in the aerial photos taken in 1964. I lived near Hang Hau in 1979 when it was a ship scrapping area, and there was no development on the peninsular opposite at that stage. Junk Bay was still a bay up to the base of Rennies Mill. By the time I started searching for PB's in the early 1990's, the hillside had been completely reshaped and PB 100 had gone, so it would appear to be reduced to a period of no more than 12 years to check.

Thank you Rob

Thank you T

I believed I found one war time construction at the Tseung Kwan O Trail I am sorry I'll post it after I figure out how to upload photo here

Hello, everyone, I am a newcomer of this site. I was really interested in explore pillbox in Tseung Kwan O since I live in this district. I would like to take some photos of those pillbox, so I take a walk on Ap Tsai Shan for find out Pillbox 100, unfortunely  I can't find it. I excatly know where it is :( .

What's more, I sometimes have a walk on Little Hawaii Trail, around once per month, which can explore the pillbox 116 & 117, pillbox 117 might not be investigated or cannot be found as I follow the "Pillboxes on the mainland", I will take a look on pillbox 116 since I didn't pay attention on it for previous travels on Little Hawaii Trail.

I believed that I can discover those pillboxs and put into my self-study - A website about Tseung Kwan O's history and nowadays. :)

Hi Chris,

I see Rob wrote: "Condition at last visit: Demolished" for PB 116 (see http://gwulo.com/node/14329), which means he was not able to find any trace of it.
