"Heaven and Earth" screened in 1993, so this one is relatively recent.

Hi There,

The bubble top is the inflated roof of a tennis court, a facility of the World Trade Centre Club.  It was still there until the last major remodel of the whole lower floors in recent years.  I could not recall exactly when though.

about this side of the theatre, similar size and height as the current building, and several windows on the lane side, it appears the theatre building has not be demolished as I thought, but recycled to its current state.  Regards,  Peter

Hi There,

Yes, the building is still standing.  Only the interior of the lower floors had been repurposed.  That particular Maxim's Palance back then boasted capable of hosting 100 tables for banquets.  Nowaways there are not too many venues in town capable of doing that.  Wiki has a brief history of the site.  The land lot was of course, originally under Jardine Matheson, where the original noon day gun stood.

The Wiki entry ansl mentioned the current Landlord Sun Hung Kai remoduled it, big time, back in 2006.  I guess the inflated roof was gone at that time and two more shopping floors were built there.
