Descendants of James Bridges Endicott and Ng Kew

You may have heard of the story of James Bridges Endicott and Ng Kew with the recent discovery of the ruins of their trusted properties between Cochrane Street and Gutzlaff Street in Central. Although not married, they were said to have five children together.

According to local historian Carl Smith, their offspring were divided between them after Endicott married a British lady. Those who went to Endicott were received and cared for by his new bride, who subsequently had children of her own. These two sets of children grew up together. The boys found positions in Shanghai and the Philippines with foreign commercial firms while the girls later went to England and the United States. The lives of the children left with Ng Kew cannot be documented (except her daughter's name could be Fung Kau). They must have become part of the Chinese/Eurasian community of Hong Kong.

The properties in Cochrane St/ Gutzlaff St went to a Robert Endicott of New York in mid 1910s, presumably after Ng Kew passed away.

Any chance that we can find the descendants of Endicott and Ng Kew from this community?

Forum:

I'll mention it in the next newsletter. I suggest you also add a comment noting your interest in hearing from family members on the pages for James Bridges Endicott and Ng Kew, in case visitors arrive on those pages first.

I'm interested in making contact with anyone who may have Endicott connections. I've recently come across some links with my family which I'd previously been unable to make any connection with. Lots of coincidences but no firm links. I do have two references of Henry Bridges Endicott being a cousin of one of my family. I also have documentation via passenger list for Endicott connection.

Thanks

Brian
