Oliver's Mount

I have been reading a blog regarding Betty Church and it refers to her residence which was on Oliver's Mount the next rise to The Peak and near the Chinese Cemetery in Poukfulham.

I resided in Hong Kong for over 30 years but have never heard of Oliver's Mount.

Does the area actually exist?

High Five Star,

I've never heard of Oliver's Mount, but from the description it sounds like High West. What era does the Betty Church blog refer to? You could check for the name on maps of that era covering the High West area.

The blog refers to 1951. I know she resided in the Mount Davies area but where exactly?

Here is a link to the blog in case it is of interest.

As nobody seems to have heard of Oliver's Mount, does anyone know where Betty Church resided in Mount Davies area?

tks

I do remember the name and have a visual of her in my mind-  I always thought she lived in Kowloon Tong. I remember she was friends of the Triggs in Kowloon Tong.

Thats about it I’m afraid.

Thanks Barb, when I first arrived in Hong Kong in 1970,  I received an invitation to her house which was if I recall in the Mount Davies area.   Maybe Oliver's Mount was actually the name of the House?

You could very well be right regarding the name of her house. Sounds logical to me esp. if you visited.

I've just listened to a recording of an interview with Betty Church and have made a page for her at https://gwulo.com/node/40768

She mentions staying in her parents' house in Yorkshire. As there's an Oliver's Mount in Scarborough, North Yorkshire (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oliver%27s_Mount), perhaps that's the connection behind giving that name to her house.
