"College Garden" Where is it?

This albumen print is from an album which was taken about 1868 ~ 1874. There is an inscription "College Gardens" on the print. Could someone advise where it was?

Thanks in advance.

Forum:

Does this help? It is dated 1893:

St Paul's College is a neat and attractive-looking building at College Gardens where Glenealy commences. It comprises a school for Chinese, under the management of Bishop Burden.

I found a College Gardens on a 1901 map and created a "place" for it.  Can you please edit this photo to add "College Gardens" in the "places shown in this photo" section.  Thanks.

I believe that this photo may have been taken on Upper Albert Road,

Do tell us what else is in the album that we could help with.

Is it the existing bishop's house!!? It doesn't look like.... perhaps I should visit this place by this weekend.

Thanks

The album is my private collection with 49 albumen prints for differect locations in HK, e.g. government hill, city hall, causeway bay, wellington street, etc, etc. I like collecting albumen prints (HK & peking), particularly early stage of HK 1870s ~ 1880s. There are still a few photos that I couldn't identify their location. I will post them later on.

Thanks

The exixting Bishop's house was St. Paul's College.  Click through to the 1901 map to see both the St. Paul's College and "College Gardens".

Click here to see the "place" College Gardens on Gwulo.

The map is not very clear. where can I find this map with better resolution, if any?

The map is in the Pulbic Records Office.  This is the best resolution they have online - however if you go to their office in Kwun Tong, you can see the high-res version online and get copies of the actual map.   You can also ask for permission to post a high-res version.
