"Owing to the opening of the new Gaol and the consequent increase in population of the Stanley district, it is proposed to erect a Postal Kiosk in Stanley Village" - China Mail 13 April 1937 refers.
Renovation work completed in 2007 to restore the building to its original appearance in 1937.
