Pillbox 035, Rocky Bay Beach [1939- ]

This little Pillbox is located in the corner of the small beach behind the Bus depot in Shek O. If you have not been there before there is a little Bar called "The Back Beach Bar" which is a fantastic place to "Re-hydrate" after a walk or a day on the beach. It very reasonably priced with beers  $20/Bottle, right next to the beach, with a great view. Perfect before/after having a Thai meal.

Thanks Craig, it's good to see the southern part of the map of pillboxes filling out.

The building in the photo above is for a Lyon Light, a searchlight that usually stood behind and above the pillbox. There might still be some remains of the pillbox nearby, even if it's just the concrete base like at PB 16.

Regards, David

Notes from Rob Weir:

With ref. to Craig's photo of PB 35: if the camera had been about 5 degrees to the left when the shot was taken, it would probably have covered the remains of the PB as well. It was semi-demolished to make way for the drain that runs to the sea, below the LL Shelter. Only one full wall remains, with a portion of two others, and it is partly filled with sand. I don't know when the drain was built.

I had a look at it on Sunday, and nothing much had changed in the last 15 years, although the LL Shelter was open when I first saw it.
