Diamond Hill Quarry Structures

Dear all,

A friend of mine went hiking up Fung Mei Path in Diamond Hill where the quarry used to be and noticed these structures. She assumed I'd know their exact purpose - well, I told her I guessed they were ventilation shafts, but no idea why a quarry would have them? Anyone well-versed in granite quarrying techniques from the 1950's that might know what they were for?

Forum:

Stunning photos! Could they be supports for water tanks? It's just a guess though.

I lived in Tai Hom Village, foothill of Diamond Hill in the 1950s.

Like other kids, I was led to believe that the Diamond Hill was sacrosanct and never ventured up there.

Hopefully I could revisit both places and find out more about them.
