Google Earth Street View - Hong Kong Launch

Ho there,

Found out earlier today that Google had just launch the Hong Kong version of Street View.  It claimed major parts of Hong Kong is covered with data collected by the Google car in the past year or two.

This would be one of the new tools to get a glimsp the location we intend to take a look without goout out.  Er, that is, if the location is covered in the first place.

Anyway..........  I still use street view to look at places in Los Angeles where I have been to a decade ago.

Best Regards,

Thanks for pointing it out, tngan.  I don't use google earth a lot and I only took a look at it after seeing your post.  It is pretty fantastic tool.

It would be even cooler if Google could somehow have a street view of The Peak from the 1960s, 1970s.  However, that sort of thing is probably even beyond their capabilities.

It's also worth noting you can use this from your web browser - you don't have to download the Google Earth software.

Here's a view of HSBC and Statue Square if you want to try it.

This is absolutely awesome. I can see the old apt & surrounding streets I grew up in sitting here in N America.

Sure brings back lots of childhood memories. Two thumbs up.

Hi there,

I found some interesting thing.

Just checked out one of the RBL markers around Carmelite Monastery in Stanley through Street View and found the engraving had been masked out by Google's software.  It must have treated the engraving as a liccense plate as the format of it is similar.

I'll mark the two RBL stone markers later.

Best Regards,
