Kwong Yee Loong - General Store- Kowloon 1930-60s?

Can some one give me a history of this business that was around maybe up to mid 1960s. I'm sure it was in Kowloon. My parents lived in New Zealand, and I remember Mum sending us to the Post Office in NZ to purchase Postal Orders. Once she had enough, she would send away for Hong Kong jackets, possibly Chinese Mushrooms and dried shrimp. Always a red letter day when the package arrived in NZ.

I believe it was a general store run by a collective of people from the Jungseng area of Canton (now Zengcheng). They handled the travel for people leaving this area via HK, to New Zealand. The migrants may have also stayed in dormitories in the building, before embarking on the next ship to Sydney. They lefy on another ship from Sydney to Auckland.

Thanks - Helen in Auckland NZ

I'm not sure there will be many references to this in English. I found one from New Zealand which you've probably seen, and a company with the same name in Vancouver which may or may not be related.

Any chance you know the Chinese characters for the name?
