The roof had quite a pronounced sag, suggesting war-time damage.

Post war changing rooms for the swimming pool

I was told that the swimming pool and changing rooms were installed during the time in the 1950s, or probably later, when the ghurkas were based at Lyemun and Pak Sha Wan and that it ws due to be filled in on account of it being a breeding place for mosquitoes.   I see on David's recent photograph that the pool was, indeed, filled in.

As far as I can remember I was told that these were vents from a power house very close to the gun emplacement and that they were associated with the emmunition hoists.  If anyone can add to my rather vague memories about any of these Pak Sha Wan images please do so.

Photograph taken from the Museum of Coastal Defence shortly before one of the curators showed me round the normally off-limits site of the Pak Sha Wan battery.

I believe that my curator guide told me that these were ammunition lockers.
