Kwokar Film Studio 國家電影製片廠

Kwokar Film Studio 國家電影製片廠.  Its location is shown on Gwulo's 1956 map of Kowloon, at that time, east of Dumbarton Road and north of Fuklo Tsun Road.  Although these two roads appear to be connected, it is not clear if car traffic was possible.  Access to the studio was likely from the winding road which could be the present Tung Tau Tsuen Road after realignment before connecting to the extended Junction Road.  The site of the former studio is most likely the northern part of the current park.

Kwoka 國家 & Great Wall Film 長城 Studio's 1956 Map

Dear Readers, first, my apology for the oversight.  I didn't think David's 1956 street map would include Kowloon City but here it is, the portion concentrating on, among other places, the pre-and  post-war film studio's that once operated in the area.  Great Wall Film Studio 長城片場 (on map the Chinese words are read from right to left) is clearly marked here on the upper left corner, and so is the temple (red words and circled blue). Note the early residential buildings and their layout on the map.

Please note the temple diagram, not the red dot,  is the location of the Hau Wong Temple on this 1953 map.  The site was once occupied by Great Wall Film Studio.  Photo source: uwants.com

Great Wall Film Studio / 長城片場 Former Address

Greetings. I found this photo with the label "HauWongTempleNewVillage長城片場舊址". The Chinese words say it was the former site of Great Wall Film Studio. According to Wikipedia (source below), the temple was built around 1730; and it was at the junction (north east corner) of Tung Tau Tsuen Road and Junction Road in Kowloon City. I will adjust the location marker for Great Wall Film Studio in accordance with the above information. The Wikipedia page shows a recent street view of the site.
