Stone Nullah Lane [c.1850- ]

Named after: the water channel that ran through it.

A creek starting just below (todays) Kennedy Road ran down the hill and drained into Victoria Harbour where (todays) Wanchai Road runs. Possibly as early as the late 1840s, when Queen's Road was built, the creek was diverted and ran covered under the street.

Shatin Nullah - downstream reach (1949)

Aerial photo showing the downstream reach of the nullah where it flows into Sha Tin Hoi. The nullah, shown in the lower left of the photo, is not identified in the 1952 map 1949 Third Edition.

The photo also shows the runway, and is a good representaton of the area prior to urban development and reclamation.

Shatin - Original Nullah near Hin Tin and North Portal [????-????]

Start (headwater) of the original nullah in Shatin, a short distance from the Beacon Hill Tunel north portal. Due to land development that started in the 1970s, major changes have been made to the nullah including realignment and covered over. <Read more ...>
