Marco Polo Hotel

Am I right to think that this is where the Kowloon Hotel now stands? It looks like The Peninsula in the left hand side and Middle Road going between there and MP.

Can any old-timers confirm?

A merge of two other photos we've received taken from this viewpoint. I think they were from the same roll of film, though not the same negative, as you can see the traffic had moved between them.

Attached is an image of Nathan Road in 1949 showing the location of Gingles on the right.

Behind the trees on the left is what is now the entrance to Kowloon Park and the MTR station. The high rise with the clock was the HK Telephone building.

If you look at the pillars next to the second car from the right, you can see they have the word 'Gingles' written on them.

Photo of the Victory Parade on Nathan Rd in September 1945.

Note the black sign with white chinese wording 'New East Asia' on the cinema building on the left of the photo. That was the name the Japanese assigned to the cinema during the occupation. Before, and after, it was known as 'Victory Theatre'.
