Torpedo.JPG

Date picture taken (to nearest decade for older photos):
1929

I think this photo speaks for itself. The torpedo is probably being loaded onto HM Submarine L3 as the photo is from the 1928-1929 album of its Commander, W.R. Fell.

This photo labelled "Peak Tram" is from the 1928-1929 album of Lt-Cdr WR Fell. I think Klaus is right that the three views of Hong Kong by WRF that I uploaded earlier, were taken from the Peak Tram and that this photo belongs in the same sequence during a single visit to the Peak.

This is the third souvenir photo of Hong Kong taken from the Peak by Lt-Cdr WR Fell during his 1928-1929 tour of duty on the China Station with the 4th Submarine Flotilla.

This the second of three views of Hong Kong from the Peak taken in 1928 or 1929 by Lt-Cdr WR Fell during his tour of the China Station with the 4th Submarine Flotilla.

I'm afraid I'm not going to be able to upload "Light Airs" as a Book, as I've recorded the pages as scans and photos when the scanner failed to work. Perhaps David can compress it into a more compact format later. Meanwhile, here goes....

"Light Airs" Vol. VI

"Light Airs" in seven volumes was the journal of the 4th Submarine Flotilla. The submarines seem to have each taken it in turns to compile a volume of the journal. Printed by Kelly & Walsh Ltd., Hong Kong, Vol. VI was compiled by members of the crew of HM Submarine L3. The editor was R.G. Liveing and the pages I shall be uploading is from the copy kept by the commanding officer, Lt.-Cdr. W. R. Fell. The journal  gives a flavour of life on a submarine and is a nice example of 1920s humour - submariner humour.

HM Submarine L3 entering Hong Kong harbour. Photo from the 1928-1929 album of William Richmond Fell.

L3's crew less 5 Hands.JPG

Date picture taken (to nearest decade for older photos):
1928

This is a formal photograph of the entire crew of HM Submarine L3 less five hands, as the title says. Lt-Cdr William Fell is seated in the centre. I'm afraid I can't identify anyone else, but Lt Gordon-Duff Lt Lonsdale and Chief Engineer Waterson will be there. I will upload other informal photos of them. This photo is from the 1928-1929 album of William Richmond Fell.
