Plover Cove boat party.jpg

Date picture taken (to nearest decade for older photos):

This was probably taken on the excursion to the Plover Cove waterfall shown in the previous two photos. I'm afraid I don't know the names of any of the occupants of the boat. I don't think the landscape behind is quite the same as in the photo labelled "Waterfall Cove".

Not a good quality photo, I'm afraid. Perhaps it could be enhanced? I think this must be at the bottom of the Plover Cove waterfall and the target of the excursion - an opportunity for a fresh water dip.

This is the only waterfall in WRF's 1928-1929 album of photos taken mainly in Hong Kong and up and down the China coast. It's not a very dramatic waterfall - dry season perhaps? I don't know if it's Bride's Pool waterfall or if it is connected with the photo of "Waterfall Cove" https://gwulo.com/atom/34820

This photo is also from the album of William Richmond Fell. No names or date, I'm afraid. From its position in the album, I will put it at 1928.

This photo is from the personal album of William Richmond Fell dated 1928-1929. Gordon Duff was a member of the L3 crew and appears in several photos in this album. His full name was Lt Cdr Randall Thomas Gordon-Duff. He would return to Hong Kong with H.M.S. Proteus in 1939 and 1940.

An officer is supervising the lowering of a diver - perhaps to free the propeller. I don't suppose the wicker fenders lasted very long. Unfortunately the righthand edge of the photo is crumpled.

Would this be of children from a monastery school? - Girls as well as boys. Probably not Hong Kong.

Can't be sure if this diving platform is off Hong Kong. I suspect that officers or crew of L3 sub are making good use of some free time.
