View along Nathan Road in southerly direction possibly taken from the HK Telephone Building. The largest building is the Peninsula Hotel, and we can see a couple of roads going west (right): Salisbury and Middle Roads near the hotel, then Peking Road, and finally (in the foreground) a short road that leads to Lock Road which didn't have a junction with Peking Road at this time.

Many of the houses visible were built around 1930, and they will be demolished shortly after this photo was taken.

Very few of us had enough money to take advantage of the high class service offered by the Peninsula.  Andrew Suddaby's only visit was when we checked in at the terminal located in its lobby for our flight back to the U.K..
