Mary Monro is author of Stranger In My Heart (Unbound, 2018), which gives the eye witness account of her father, John Monro MC RA, who fought at the Battle of Hong Kong, was interned by the Japanese at Sham Shui Po and escaped 1200 miles across China to reach Chongqing. There he was made Assistant Military Attaché and spent the next 18 months supporting and trying to liberate the POWs he'd left behind. Mary retraced her fafther's escape route across China and the book also includes her journey of discovery.

Albert Denison was a civil engineer with Danby & Leigh and then Denison, Ram & Gibbs. He rowed and sailed and was an amateur yacht designer. In 1890 he was a founding member of the Hongkong Corinthian Sailing Club, which in 1894 was renamed Royal Hongkong Yacht Club (RHKYC). He was Commodore of RHKYC from 1909 to 1910 and again from 1911 to 1913.

Sir Henry Edward Pollock, QC, JP (普樂) was an English barrister who became a prominent politician in Hong Kong. From 1917 to 1941 he was the Senior Unofficial Member of the Legislative Council and from 1926 to 1941 was the Senior Unofficial Member of the Executive Council. 

He was Commodore of the Royal Hongkong Yacht Club from 1905 to 1906 and again from 1908 to 1909.

Sir George Thomas Henry Boyes had a distinguished career in the Royal Navy, during which he was Commodore and Naval Officer-in-Charge at Hongkong. He served as Commodore of the Royal Hong Kong Yact Club from 1895  to 1896.
