Mary Monro is author of Stranger In My Heart (Unbound, 2018), which gives the eye witness account of her father, John Monro MC RA, who fought at the Battle of Hong Kong, was interned by the Japanese at Sham Shui Po and escaped 1200 miles across China to reach Chongqing. There he was made Assistant Military Attaché and spent the next 18 months supporting and trying to liberate the POWs he'd left behind. Mary retraced her fafther's escape route across China and the book also includes her journey of discovery.

Major Cecil Boon of the Royal Army Service Corps, an army dancing champion before WWII, was named the Chief Administrator Officer by the occupying Japanese Imperial Army with the responsibility of the overall administration of the Sham Shui Po POW Camp. He was hated by the bulk of his fellow POWs who called him "Cissy" and "Queen of all stooges". They saw him as a mouthpiece for the Japanese military. Major Boon had his own network of cronies who informed him of the camp's gossips which he then relayed to his Japanese superiors.

World War II Minstrel Shows in HK camps

Does anyone have information about the minstrel shows that were put on by the folks in the Stanley and Sham Shui Po Camps during World War II?

Stanley seems to have held at least two minstrel shows:
