From the photo, we can see Dr. Sun Yat-sen and his friends posing in front of the second floor ward of the Alice Memorial Hospital in 1898. Dr. Sun was one of the College's first two graduates in 1892, later first President of the Republic of China.

It was the teaching hospital of Hong Kong College of Medicine for Chinese which was precursor of HKU medical school.
