The pier started operation in 1963. The taxi model looks like it is Morris Oxford used in the 1960s. So the photo should be middle or late 1960s. The building behind the pier still existed in dec 2020 on Google map. In mar 2022, it disappeared.

1963-06-24 news report indicates the hunghom to north point service moved from gilles road to the new pier at whampoa street.

1975-11-30 news report reported hunghom train station started operation. Hunghom to Central ferry service was also restarted. Instead of building a new pier, star ferry company rented the YMT ferry pier for Wanchai. YMT had to combine the North point and Wanchai services at the pier for North point as a result.
