1949 Repulse Bay

Date picture taken (to nearest decade for older photos):
1949

Taken from above the tennis courts of Eucliffe. The statue of the WW1 soldier (incorrectly referenced to John Osborn) now located in Hong Kong Park can be seen looking out onto Repulse Bay. The round structure in mid-right, I assume is Pillbox 18. The Dairy Farm Soda Fountain on Beach Road can also be seen.

(Update: Repulse Bay Mansion(s) under construction. Nudged the date to 1949)

Another photo taken in Repulse Bay with Eucliffe Castle out of focus in the background. I don't know if PB17 can be discerned. The photo shows Veronica ("Ronnie") Walker in a canoe called The Leaf with her mother. The photo is labelled as taken in 1939 and was sent to the wife and children of my uncle, Leslie Warren, after their 1938 departure for England. The Walkers and Warrens were neighbours in Broadwood Road.

A 1938 photo of Repulse Bay to add to the collection. The legend gives "Lido at Repulse Bay". Hotel in distance" The gentleman waving is given as Mr Hewitt of 18 Broadwood Road. Eucliffe Castle is visible. I can't make out what the semi-circular formation is on the hillside to the left.
