Text on Wiki Swire:

On the 14th October, 1906, Hankow was gutted by fire, whilst alongside the Canton Steamer Wharf at Hong Kong, as a result of a passenger's cooking stove overturning. One hundred and thirty people were killed in C.N.Co.’s worst-ever (non- wartime )disaster.

Screen capture from the 1960 Hong Kong series starring Rod Taylor. This shows the view looking west up King's Road from the approximate area of today's Kornhill development.

I know the building on the hillside was part of the Tai Koo refinery, but does anyone recall what it's function was?

You can see afew more images from the sequence here.

Swire exec house at 53 Stubbs Road [????-c.2006]

Date Place demolished:
c.2006-01-01 (Year, Month, Day are approximate)

Now the Opus, but previously a Swire house used by it execs.

I can find no other info on it other than from the Opus brochure that mentions it became Swire property sometime in the 1940s. It appears to have been around right up until demolition to make way for the Opus. It appears on 2005 aerial images but is gone by 2008 so I've set the demolition date to 2006 unless someone is able to narrow it down further.

Does anyone have any other images?

In 1963 it appeared (partially) in a German film: Weiße Fracht für Hongkong
