Re-starting KCR services after WW2

In Cheng Po Hung's book, Hong Kong during the Japanese Occupation, he notes that trains started running again on the KCR line in February 1942, but that by 1944 trains only ran once every two days due to fuel shortages. (I guess that train services would have stopped completely by mid-1945 - has anyone seen this confirmed?)

So when the British returned, one of their jobs was to get the trains running again. They didn't waste any time, and the first train ran on the Sep 29, 1945 ... straight into a brick wall!

During the height of the Cultural Revolution in1967 , when disturbances had spread to Hong Kong , KCR railway workers had to contend with through freight trains arriving from the Mainland at Tsim Sha Tsui with their wagons festooned with anti-British slogans. This also included some disturbing additions hanging  down the wagon sides. The slogan daubed on the end of the wagon reads 打 倒英帝 (" Da Dao Yingdi" - equivalent to "Down with British Imperialism" )

For me it looks like narrow-gauge railway tracks. So it could be the Fan Ling-Sha Tau Kok Railway (see http://gwulo.com/hong-kong-railways-ropeways).

This is an excerpt from the 1980 Hong Kong tourist map. In the text it says that passengers should detrain at the Chinese border and walk across the bridge to catch connecting train in China. However, when we travelled the train went through, and we didn't walk.
