G. Fenwick & Co. Engineers & Shipbuilders - Advertisement

Full-page advertisment placed by shipbuilders George Fenwick & Co. in the 1903 edition of the Directory & Chronicle for China, Japan, Corea etc etc. 

The company's shipyard was located on the East Praya in Wanchai but was forced to relocate in the early 20th. Century for reclamation and road development.

Steam Paddleship "Nanning"

The paddlesteamer S.S. "Nanning" was constructed by Hong Kong engineers & shipbuilder G. Fenwick & Co. in 1900  at their yard on the East Praya (Wanchai) The ship, 349 tons had a length of 147ft in length and a beam of 31 ft.. It had a stern paddle and shallow draft engabling it to navigate the  non too deep West River above Canton ( Guangzhou) . It was operated on the Canton-Wuchow (梧州 Wuzhou ) Line , belonging to the Hongkong, Canton and Macao S.S. Company.

Has a copyright mark from 1900, the photo should be a bit older than that.

A sign on the first building reads Yusen Kaisha Steam Ship Co. In the 1920s, they were in King's Building, not sure what this one is.
