Nothing very exciting to see, but interesting because it's the first we've seen on the Western side of the island. I wonder if the Japanese built more tunnels where they had experienced the worst fighting, or whether there are more on the western side of the island that just haven't been seen yet.

I remembered this from over 10 years ago. I didn't know what it was then, but remember a tunnel cut straight back into the hill. I didn't go in, but I didn't see any turnings or branches from the entrance, so I think it was one of the simple hiding-place tunnels. <Read more ...>
