St. Stephen's Church - 3rd generation [1965- ]

In 1963, both the Church and the Annex were demolished. The 3rd generation St. Stephen's Church was built on the old site of the Annex, and St. Stephen's Church College was built on the old site of the Church, both opening in 1965

Union Church (4th & current generation) [1949- ]

Built on the site of the previous Union Church, which was demolished during the Japanese occupation of Hong Kong.

The Church website gives the completion dates of the current buildings:

The church building 'disappeared' during World War 2 and has been rebuilt over time, with the Fellowship Hall in 1949, the Sanctuary in 1955 and the Annex in 1970.

The original site of the Nethersole Dispensary is located inside Blake Garden, near the exit to Upper Station Street. It occupied the ground floor of the Taipingshan Chapel of the London Missionary Society at 2 Station Street (now Po Yee Street).

James Legge graduated from Aberdeen University in 1836 and joined the London Missionary Society two years after. He was sent to Malacca in 1840 where he assumed the post of principal of the Anglo-Chinese college founded by Robert Morrison. When the school moved to Hong Kong in1843, Legge remained as Principal. He was a great Sinologue and was famous for his translation and annotation of the Chinese classics. He was a prominent resident of Hong Kong as he was an all round man: Scholar, missionary, minister, chaplain and Educationist.

Opened in 1961:

Bishop Lorenzo Bianchi celebrated the consecration of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Tai Po on 11.6.1961.  Rev. Narciso Santinon of PIME was appointed the first rector.  To pay tribute to the Holy Mother, the church was thus named as the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church.
