Thanks very much for identifying the location of the picture. As you ask I have uploaded the other picture. On th reverse it says: "This is near our flat the childrens' playground". The couple in the picture are my great aunt and uncle, Charles and Ellen Olson. He was a director of Thoresens Shipping as far as I know until he left HK in the late 20s.
Charles W Olson and Ethel also lived at 13 Broadwood Road in 1913 and I think that house was probably the property of my grandfather John Olson or perhaps my great grandfather who was also named John Olson. <Read more ...>

This is a picture of my great aunt Ellen Olson wife of Charles W. Olson. The note on the reverse says: "Back view of our bungalow. You can see they have just started to build the kitchen on each side of the steps". Must say you could have fooled me!
Would love to know where it was and if anybody hs an idea. I assume it was on HK Island.
The reverse of this photo, which is from family archives, says: "Do you recognise this spot, Arrow denotes our flat". What is left of the arrow is on the top left hand corner which I have cropped away.

A couple of islands caught my eye in this photo. Up at 11 o'clock, in the distance beyond Hung Hom you can just see To Kwa Wan island. That is landlocked now, but I think some of the island's rocky hill is still visible in Hoi Sam Park, on the To Kwa Wan waterfront.
Over on the right of the photo at 2 o'clock is Kellett island, another that has since been joined to land by reclamation. <Read more ...>
Was interested to see the recent picture of Happt Valley. Here is one from my family collection. It was sent to my grandfather John Olson in 1923.
