The building was used as as the Maryknoll Sisters Convent from November 1921 to New Year’s Day 1923.

I was asked to comment on this photo some time ago. Source is not known. Circa 1920. The tall building on the left is Homeville. Viewing a funeral procession from a verandah of a tall building. Warehouses on the right.

In answer to a query about 1930s kitchen equipment in Hong Kong, here is a 1924 ad for Cheavin's water filters. It is actually no different in design to the water filter that my parents had in their kitchen on their Ceylon tea plantation in the 1950s. I'm sure other people of my vintage will recall these as well.
