To add confusion to this saga, the book by well-known HK architect Eric Cumine, titled 'Hong Kong Ways & Byways' published in 1981, claims that  the pagoda lost its top two storeys in a 1954 typhoon which at least gives a date for ardent newspaper researchers to have a look through. Other three storey images of the pagoda in the 1950s would appear to refute this date.

The year dates for the other two pagodas construction are of general interest.

Appears to be in the 1970s from the typical New Territories truck of that time

This is photo #3 in a consecutive series taken from the same 8mm film that shows what we believe is the Tsui Sing Lau Pagoda in 1948. This photo shows the immediate vicinity - looks like foreground - with boys on buffalos.

Hi David, David W and Moddsey -

I've followed David's suggestions and reloaded this photo "still" from the 8mm film (not using my TV monitor!).

This #1 photo is a much clearer image.I have also loaded an image #2 that is immediately to the right of the Pagoda so it can be see clearer. - (see next image).
