Hai Ching piracy-loanedalbum on display at HK Maritime Museum

Date picture taken (to nearest decade for older photos):
2010

An album I acquired about 40 years ago is on display at the Hong Kong Maritime Museum open at one of the Hai Ching piracy image pages. Difficult to photograph in its glass case and low lighting.

The whole album is from an HMS KENT China Squadron cruise.

It has been on display ever since the museum opened to the public

Armed junk-Hong Kong-1948

Date picture taken (to nearest decade for older photos):
1948

Back in the early 1970s one of our hiking companions told tales of his activities gun running and moving strategic goods up to Canton at night on armed Junks just after the war. At the time I never really believed him as he didn't seem the type who would get involved in such things. More recently I came across a number of pictures dated circa 1948 in the Harrison Forman Collection often mentioned on this site, of Junks armed with vintage cannons, guns and armour plating around the decks moored in Hong Kong. Supposedly blockade runners.
