Street in Hong Kong in the middle of the 19th century.

From a German illustrated book "The XIX century in words and pictures", published around 1900. The caption says "Printed after a water colour painting by Eduard Hildebrand".

Early 1840s HK View - who owns it?

Here's a view of the north shore of HK Island from the 1840s. Does anyone know who owns it?

It appears in in the book "An Illustrated History of Hong Kong" (by Nigel Cameron, 1991). In the acknowledgement, he credits the source as the Information Services Department (ISD). I've contacted the ISD photo library, the Museum of Art, and the Museum of History, but none of them have this painting in their collections. <Read more ...>
