Gough Street Steps.JPG

I wonder if any 1880s/1890s photos of Gough Street Steps exist. Being quite ignorant of Hong Kong’s geography, I don’t know if they connect with Queen’s Road Central. If I’ve understood this entry in the 1885-86 Rate Book correctly, they seem to have been located next to The National Hotel, 242 Queen's Road Central, where my grandmother, Hannah Olson (later Warren) was born in 1880.

Queen's Road Central

Date picture taken (to nearest decade for older photos):
1935

The photo is labeled 'Queen's Road East', but in fact we're looking west along Queen's Road Central near Jubilee Street - the steps to Central Market are on the right of the photo.

The building under scaffolding on the far left of the photo is on the corner of the junction with Cochrane Street. It also appears in the 1935 Silver Jubilee procession photo.
