May Road - origin of name

I've been asked recently about May Road.  I'd assumed that it was named after FH May, Governor 1912-19 ... and at https://gwulo.com/atom/23602 Gen Suzuki gives us the Wikipedia entry for it which say so.

But ... it was started in 1907 and the person who signed the announcement of its naming in the Government Gazette was none other than then Colonial Secretary F H May - see  http://sunzi.lib.hku.hk/hkgro/view/g1907/6398.pdf

My mother Johanna Elisabeth (Ankie or Annie) Marks who was born on August 12th 1926 in Hing Kong. The photo was taken January 23rd 1928 somewhere near where they lived which was 2 Tregunter Mansions. The young lady is one Margy van Dobben, most likely Dutch as well, just like my mother and grandparents.

House on May Road (seems to be the house on the photo titled "Old Peak Road 1919 - from Branksome Towers"). My grandparents P. Marks and M.G. Marks-Groot (from the Netherlands; my grandfather worked for the Dutch Indoes Trade Bank in Hong Kong, the Nederlandsch Indische Handelsbank) at that time (autumn of 1925) lived nearby in Tregunter Mansions on 2, May Road. They has been swiming in the pool which was at the left of that house and they wrote that the tennis court on the right was owned by the flats owner. Dates are approximate but in November 1925.
