The entrance to Sai Wan War Cemetery.

In May 2012, my daughter and I visited the grave of my mother's brother, Frederick Stanley Lowing, who died in Taiwan on 17 March 1944 whilst a prisoner of the Japanese. This was the first time a member of the family had been able to visit his final resting place and pay their respects, over 68 years after he lost his life.

In a strange twist of fate, he was buried in Hong Kong, where his father was born in 1885.

The old pathology buildings at QMH will be demolished soon.  Two old lamp posts still stand at the slope below the buildings.  They look old but we do not know how old.  Since QMH was established in 1937, they could be there for a long time.  I am wondering if anyone has a better idea on the origin of these lamps.

cheers.
