In May 2012, my daughter and I visited the grave of my mother's brother, Frederick Stanley Lowing, who died in Taiwan on 17 March 1944 whilst a prisoner of the Japanese. This was the first time a member of the family had been able to visit his final resting place and pay their respects, over 68 years after he lost his life.
In a strange twist of fate, he was buried in Hong Kong, where his father was born in 1885. <Read more ...>
