Letter my mother received once HK was liberated. I would assume mom was taking food parcels to those in Shamshuipo PoW camp.

Another letter mom got when HK was liberated. She never spoke about what she did to get those two letters - I only found them in my father's leather suitcase which had a lot of old papers & photo albums!

I know she used to go to Stanley to leave food parcels for Eva Kilbee & Dorothy. Lindy remembers being offered sweets by the Japanese guards but said mom always forbade her accepting any.

Norwegian Community in Hong Kong WWII

The Norwegian community in Hong Kong before the Japanese attack on December 8, 1945 consisted of a small number of residents and sailors from the merchant fleet. Here is a brief outline of their war time experiences.

Before the Japanese attack and occupation

The Norwegian residents in Hong Kong in 1941 were mainly ships agents, ship brokers, retired sailors and missionaries.

I came across a link to a story about the Blue Pool Road Massacre. http://eagle878.blogspot.ca/2015/01/blue-pool-road-massacre-hong-kong-dec.html written by Lam Kwok-Fu.  This is identical to the descriptions given by our family members.

says taken in Hong Kong though no real way to check. Curious about the story behind this - who was the guy not in uniform sitting down? The soldier's arm band says Gendarme which suggests he was based in an British/International colony. (from photo album from captured soldier)
