The street numbers (and sometimes the street name) changed multiple times in Hong Kong as the city grew. Below are the road number changes for Robinson Road

boundary stones marked B.O.

When the Murray Battery site was used for the public works department new buildings, boundary stones marked B.O. were found. It was suggested that they stood for Board of Ordnance. The street lamps outside seven and six Penny Hill were also marked B.O. this appears to be the mark for all military property. "Like the V.R. of those days (now "G.R.")"

I'd like to file my old slides in a better way than the jumble of envelopes they are currently in. I'll use the plastic sheets that hold several slides per page and fit into a ring binder, like these:

Lot number as a Place attribute

The 1924 map and the HK Gov Map app together do a great job of identifying lot numbers pin pointing various places.

Doctor Robert Lim and the Chinese Red Cross

Thanks to Elizabeth Ride for sharing this speech given by her father, Sir Lindsay Ride. She writes: "My father was on the HK Red Cross committee before the war, and spent time during his leave in Australia in 1940 raising funds for this organisation.  He gave the speech below at that time."

The following images were taken by Tony Hawes in (most likely) July 1979. They are taken from the cockpit. He wrote me that he wasn’t stationed in Hong Kong, but visited this city twice – in 1963 and 1979. The images are in the order he remembers.

This one is already at the Kowloon Peninsula showing Mei Foo Sun Chuen housing estate and the Lai Chi Kok municipal incinerator. Flight direction is south-east.
