Photo courtesy of reader 'moddsey'. In a photo from the 1910's this building is called Wellington Barracks, used by the British Army. When the Royal Navy returned to Hong Kong after the Second World War, the original HMS Tamar had been scuttled, so the Wellington Barracks became their new base and was renamed 'HMS Tamar'.

I happen to have a similar but later B&W photo than this dated 15th Nov ?3(stamped in black but the (possibly 4)before the 3 scratched out but no corrected year date written in. Perhaps '53? I'll try to send you a copy that shows a flagpost facing the main entrance, the clock has been removed and the  fence removed and replaced by a solid wall on both sides of the entrance while keeping the 2 columns.

BTW the CAPTCHA code you use can be tough to read compared with those used by other websites. I don't see an Enter button anywhere.

Hi Axel,

Yes please, it'll be good to see another view of this. You can post the picture directly to this website, instructions here.

Sorry to hear you're having trouble with the captcha.

After you've typed in the captcha, click the "Save" button to save whatever you've just created.

Regards, David

Can we link this to the new "Gum Jung" page? Thanks.
