What was before the Asiatic Building and Pedder Building ?
I think the Pedder Building was built on part of the site of the old GPO. I'm not sure what the taller building in the right foreground of this photo is.
I'm not sure what that building facing us down Pedder Street was either. I've made a new Place for it. (I recommend that approach over linking photos to Places that were built later. It causes less confusion later.)

Before the Asiatic Building, the site was the premises of the British American Tobacco Company Ltd.
As for the taller building, that was the site of the second Jardine House completed in 1909.
