I think this was taken from Stonecutter's Island, and the industrial area in the background shows the oil storage tanks where Mei Foo is today.

Wonderful rare photo of the Hong Kong coastline around the 1920s. The above photo was taken from near Morrison Hill on Hong Island looking towards North Point and Hung Hom, Kowloon City. On the right are the distinctive hills of North Point and Tin Hau and the breakwater of the typhoon shelter. . Hong Kong Yatch Club on Kellet Island is visible near the white yatch. The area of Hennessy Road, Lockhart Road and Gloucester Road did not exist yet and was to be reclaimed from the sea. The people swimming there would be the future Hennessy Road, On the other side of the harbour are the buildings of China Light and Power Co Ltd which had a power station there during the 1920s located at the junction of present-day Chatham Road and Princess Margaret Road. The taller hill in the across the harbour is Diamond Hill.

The taller hill on the right would be Beacon Hill and the view of the foreground is the bathing beach at Stonecutters
