The photo of the royal barge at the Civil Aviation pontoon steps was taken on 7 March 1959. After inspection of the troops at Kai Tak (see here ), Prince Philip boarded the barge to take him back to the royal yacht, Britainnia.

I used to play on that pontoon around that time, but no one ever rolled out a red carpet on it for me!  (It wasn't freshly painted either!)
